CES 2005: Aaudio Imports
Aaudio Imports has put together an impressive array of German products for import into the U.S. Their room at CES featured two set-ups from the middle of the Acapella speaker line. The most distinguishing factor present in all Acapella speakers is an Ionic tweeter which essentially uses no membrane but rather an arc created from high voltage application. Consequently, this arc is modulated with the musical signal. Thus, an oscillation occurs which forces the air molecules to dodge more or less quickly. The resultant change in pressure creates sound.
The smaller “LaCampanella” ( $26,000 ) plays in the range of 700 hz to 22Khz. It is coupled with a sealed enclosure housing four 6.5” drivers which play in a range of 20hz to 700hz. Each speaker weighs over 200 lbs. This two way design features a hyperspherical Horn shape which creates a single point source in exact phase for the important frequencies of 1 khz to 4 khz. “LaCampanella” is connected to the electronics by Acapella Silvercable which use micro-diameter high purity silver with ceramic coating.

Einstein Audio located in Bochum produces a full line of two channel electronics. They do not use fans, thus they perform noise-free. “The Absolute Tune” ($9590) is an integrated amp with power ratings of 50w-8ohm and 85w-4ohm. It is an OTL hybrid which uses OTL for the tube input and a mosfet output. A remote control is featured with this amp as well. “The Last Record Player” ($7490) is a CD player which uses 4-6922 tube in its’ output stage.

Isoclean transformer PT 3030 MKII’s ($2700) are plugged into the 80A3 ($3500) power socket with six positions which can handle 80 amps of current and 3000 watts. Autofocus ($1300) and Superfocus ($1800) power cords connect to the Isocleans. The rack is Symposium made of solid aircraft aluminum. Platforms on the shelves are Acapella bases. They are made of multi-constrained layers of aluminum, lead, wood, sand, and felt. They range in weight from 35 to 60 lbs.

The Acapella “Violon” uses a Horn for the midrange and an Ion plasma tweeter which itself weighs 40lbs. It covers a frequency range from 5khz to 40khz. The cabinet encloses a 10” woofer which covers the frequencies from 24hz to 5khz. The speaker weighs 240lbs. The cabinet is multi-compressed layers over an mdf, plywood base. The Horn is a fiberglass filled sandwich of multi-layered epoxy, stone material. It is finished in an automotive acrylic paint. You may single, bi, or triwire the speaker.

Einstein “The Tube” ($13,850) preamp uses 18-6922 tubes and 1-ECC802 ina fully balanced configuration with remote control. Einstein “The Final Cut” ($21,800) OTL monoblocks 60w-8ohms.

Accessories in the room were Isoclean power sockets in the walls. They are aluminum anodized. The Acapella “big block” is a round cylinder found on the Einstein electronics. They weigh 20lbs. and are designed to remove mechanical energy from the transformers. The Einsteins were sitting on “speed blocks” which are rectangular pucks which are made from aluminum and pear wood and then precision ground.
